SERVICE INDICATOR & WARNING LIGHTS

ENGINE TEMPERATURE GAUGE

Indicates engine coolant temperature. Gauge should register below "HOT" end while driving.
LOW OIL LEVEL WARNING LIGHT

If this light comes on while driving, engine oil level is low. If this occurs, stop vehicle immediately and check oil level and add if necessary. If oil level is okay and light remains on, have system serviced as soon as possible.
OIL PRESSURE GAUGE

Indicates engine oil pressure. If gauge registers low or no oil pressure, stop the vehicle immediately and check the oil level. If oil level is satisfactory and light remains on, have the lubricating system serviced as soon as possible.
CHARGE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT

Indicates that the battery is not charging properly. Check the alternator belt tension. If belt tension is okay, have the system serviced as soon as possible.
BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT

This light indicates that either the parking brake is on or the brake fluid level is low.
BRAKE PAD WEAR INDICATOR LIGHT

If light comes on while driving, have the front brake pads checked for wear and replaced if necessary.
LOW COOLANT LEVEL WARNING LIGHT

If light comes on while driving, the engine coolant level is low. Stop vehicle as soon as possible and allow engine to cool before checking coolant level. DO NOT operate vehicle when coolant level is low, it may cause engine overheating.
ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) INDICATOR LIGHT

If this light comes on while driving, either the battery charging voltage is below 10 volts or there is a malfunction is the ABS. If the charging voltage is okay and the light remains on, have the ABS serviced as soon as possible.
"SRS" INDICATOR LIGHT

This light should come on for 10 seconds when ignition switch is turned to the "ON" or "START" positions to indicate the readiness of the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS). If light remains on or comes on while driving, have the SRS serviced as soon as possible.
OXYGEN SENSOR WARNING LIGHT

If light comes on while driving, have the oxygen sensor serviced as soon as possible.
"4MATIC" (4WD) SYSTEM INDICATOR LIGHT

When this light comes on while the engine is running, it indicates that the 4-wheel drive function has engaged automatically. If function indicator light and "4Matic" indicator light both come on with the engine running, stop vehicle and move service valve lever (located in the engine compartment) down to the stop. The vehicle will now only be driven by the rear wheels. Have system serviced as soon as possible.
CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT

If this light comes on while the engine is running, it indicates a problem with the oxygen sensor on Federal vehicles and a problem with the fuel injection system or emission control system on California vehicles. Have vehicle serviced as soon as possible.
EXTERIOR LIGHT FAILURE WARNING LIGHT

If light comes on while engine is running, there is a bulb failure in one of the exterior lights. Replace the defective bulb as soon as possible.
